Here is my solo song selection from the Ball State University Class of 2021 Chicago Showcase, presented at THE CABARET in Indianapolis. Head to my "Recent News" tab to see the full showcase, including the rest of my material.
I love how the women in "Chicago" own their strength and sensuality. I had the incredibly opportunity to be in "Chicago" at the Professional Performing Arts School located in Times Square. Since we were right down the street from the Broadway production, we got to perform one evening for the Broadway cast!
and I fall more in love with it every day. I've danced at Alvin Ailey, with the Radio City Rockettes, and at French Acadamie of Ballet.
My favorite dance style is classic jazz, but I truly love them all! Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon are two of my biggest inspirations.
and classical characters, such as The Princess of France in Shakespeare's "Love's Labour's Lost", or...
I had the opportunity to dive into my love for Shakespeare when I was cast as Olivia in "Twelfth Night", directed by Dee Dee Batteast and Kathy Logelin.
I've never seen a playwright epitomize what it is to be a young woman in a twisted world the way Molly Smith Metzler does. Metzler was born and raised in New York, like me, and I love the influence that the grit and effervescence of our hometown has on her work.
but the one I hear most is "FIERCE". Check out this clip of me dancing and tell me if you'd agree(;
This wildly funny, yet heartbreaking play follows a woman who would fit right into my hometown neighborhood, the Upper East Side. I love getting to play this caricature of a woman I know and deeply love. Though I pride myself on breaking that stereotype and being down to earth, I enjoy paying that world a visit every so often.
Many people don't know "Smile: the Musical" by Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Ashman, two of my favorite composers. The show follows a group of pageant girls and feels almost like the love child of two of my favorite things: "A Chorus Line" and Disney.
